Why I work from home

So my littlest squish turns 10 months old today. Not so little any more! If I were still a teacher I’d be starting to think about my return to work, and although I loved teaching I’m very glad to be in the position I’m in instead. It doesn’t seem to have escaped other people’s notice either that I “should” be going back to work soon. I’ve noticed an increase in the number of people who seem very interested in my career plans; even my dentist! As Little Squish (the business) is a whole 6 months old today, I’ve technically been at work for quite a while now. I say “technically” because a whole lot of people possibly wouldn’t see what I do as work, but I do work very hard! Anyway, this has got me thinking about the pros and cons, for me, of running my own business. Pros ° I’m always there when my girls need me (major, MAJOR pro right there!) ° I’m doing something I LOVE! ° I’m in control. Of what I do and when I do it. ° I can work in my pyjamas if I want to! ° I like feeling part of an online community of other stitchers, creative people and work-at-home parents Cons ° Not being taken seriously, some people think this is my hobby ° Working alone can feel lonely at times ° It can be easy to lose confidence in what I’m doing ° Whilst starting out, I don’t have a regular income I don’t know about you, but I think the pros far outweigh the cons! If you are interested a little bit more in how I work, then have a read of an interview I did as part of a series on WAHMs.
