Hey! I’ve got a couple of things to share this morning.
First up, the Typewriter skirt is finally ready for action! I re-did the zip, with a a bit of drama, and managed to wear it yesterday, hurrah! I’m so pleased with it, what do you think? Eleanor was suitably impressed and wants one as well. This won’t be happening as I found this fabric to be a bit of a nightmare, I’ve never seen anything fray so much. also, there’s no way I’m ever dressing the same as my daughter!
Last night I decided to just whip up something quickly for myself. I’m pretty pleased with my handle on zips now, but it still takes me a while. Do you ever feel like you just want to do something quick and easy just to have achieved something?! I bought this awesome fabric last week with retro-looking sweetie jars on, with the intention of it becoming another Clemence skirt, but for some reason I only bought a metre of it as I wasn’t concentrating, so there wasn’t enough fabric. As Andy was running reeeeeally late last night (damn you M6/M42) I decided to spend the time stitching a super simple elasticated waist skirt with it. A metre is plenty to give it a bit of a swish!
Nothing exciting to tell you about the process really, but it’s nice to do something within an hour. All my non-sewing friends seem to think I’m a genius, but if you do sew you’ll know how easy this was! So, ta-daaaaah….
Of course, the problem with mostly sewing at night now the nights are drawing in, is that it’s nigh on impossible to get decent photos of anything. I’m pleased with it though, it’ll add a nice bit of colour to my wardrobe. Although I guess this isn’t the most flattering style of skirt, not being fitted at all, it’s pretty perfect for me during the week. I’m running about after the girls and need things that are super comfortable, plus I’m trying to lose weight so anything too fitted will just need altering again (hopefully!) anyway.
I had to wear it today of course, so here’s a better daylight picture:
I had no one to take a picture for me, so this is the best I could do. I’m wearing it with a pink jumper though and I love it. So much so, I think I’m wearing this outfit to the Handmade Fair on Saturday. Wooh, can’t wait!
In other news, I recently started a pretty cool business course, which is really helping me to focus on things. So much so, I’ve even drawn up a list of goals I want to achieve by the end of 2016. I’m sharing them with you as a way of keeping me on track and focused!
Maybe my goals are going to prove to be too much, I don’t know yet, but if I don’t aim high, I’ll never know!
