Vintage patterns… again!

As you know, I recently managed to get my hands on all of my Grandma’s sewing patterns and there is quite a collection! After a quick nose through, they ended up in my parents’ spare bedroom as I have nowhere to store them currently. I decided to have a bit more of a rummage through today and there really are some great ones in there. Here’s a little selection of what I brought back home with me…

I love this skirt pattern, it’s very similar to Tilly and the Buttons’ Miette skirt and I’ve decided to add this to my pile of patterns I want to sew for me. Seriously though, this list is getting longer by the week! This is a nice quick sew though, I just need to decide on what fabric to buy. I might wait until the SewBrum meet up to get that.

Next I came across a couple of children’s patterns that I think are really cool. They’ll give me a bit of retro-inspiration I think, even if I don’t use them exactly as they are:

What do you think? I absolutely love the coat pattern especially and it just happens to be Eleanor’s size which is a bonus!

I haven’t used any old patterns before and I know from reading other blog posts, they pose their own challenges, so I think it’ll be an interesting learning curve for me. I will update you as soon as I find time to tackle one.

What do you think of using vintage patterns? Tell your triumphs and disastersl! I love to read your comments 🙂
